Welcome to the Winterberry Research Hub

At Winterberry Research Inc., we’re exploring innovative research projects that move medicine forward and open the door to better treatments. Whether you’re thinking about joining a study or just want to know what’s available, you’re in the right place. Welcome!

What past research participants say:

“I wasn’t sure what being part of a research trial would mean but the team at Winterberry explained everything in a way that was easy to understand. Now I feel more hopeful about my own health and I feel good knowing I’m helping others too.”

Active Studies:

At Winterberry, research is a core part of what we do. We’re proud to be one of the most active primary care research hubs in Canada. As you can see below, we have many studies going on right now. If one sounds interesting to you, please get in touch with us by emailing: research@winterberrymedical.ca

Knee Osteoarthritis & Weight Loss Research Study

Study ID: J2A-MC-GZPT

What is this study about?
This Phase 3 study is evaluating Orforglipron, a once-daily oral GLP-1 medication, to see whether it can help reduce knee pain from osteoarthritis while also supporting weight loss.

Who might be a good fit?
Adults with obesity and moderate knee pain related to knee osteoarthritis may be a good fit. Participants should not have diabetes and must be willing to pause specific medications used for knee pain during the study.

Why participate?
Participants receive regular health monitoring during scheduled visits, along with support for knee pain, weight management, and lifestyle guidance while helping advance future treatments.

Type 2 Diabetes Research Study for People Not Reaching A1c Goals

Study ID: J1R-MC-GZFD

What is this study about?
This Phase 2 study is evaluating an injectable medication similar to GLP-1 therapies to see whether it can help lower A1c levels in people with Type 2 diabetes who have not reached their goals while taking Semaglutide or Tirzepatide.

Who might be a good fit?
Adults with Type 2 diabetes who are already taking a stable dose of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide but still have elevated A1c levels may be a good fit.

Why participate?
Participants receive regular health monitoring during scheduled visits, along with support for diabetes management, weight management, and lifestyle guidance while helping advance future treatments.

Lower Back Pain & Weight Loss Research Study

Study ID: J1I-MC-GZQD

What is this study about?
This Phase 3 study is evaluating Retatrutide, a once-weekly injectable GLP-1 medication, to see whether it can help reduce lower back pain while also supporting weight loss in adults with obesity.

Who might be a good fit?
Adults with obesity and ongoing lower back pain may be a good fit. Participants should not have diabetes, must be willing to pause specific medications used for pain during the study, also must be comfortable undergoing MRI scans.

Why participate?
Participants receive regular health monitoring during scheduled visits, along with support for lower back pain, weight management, and lifestyle guidance while helping advance future treatments.

Weight Loss Research Study Using Retatrutide (Adult)

Study ID: J1I-MC-GZQL

What is this study about?
This Phase 3 study is evaluating Retatrutide, a once-weekly injectable GLP-1 medication. Researchers are studying different dose escalation schedules to better understand how gradually increasing the dose over time may support weight loss in adults with obesity.

Who might be a good fit?
Adults with obesity who do not have diabetes may be a good fit for this study.

Why participate?
Participants receive regular health monitoring during scheduled visits, along with support for weight management and lifestyle guidance while helping advance future treatments.

Weight Loss Research Study Using Eloranlintide (Adult)

Study ID: J3R-MC-YDAG

What is this study about?
This Phase 3 study is evaluating Eloralintide, a once-weekly injectable medication, to see whether it can help support weight loss in adults living with obesity.

Who might be a good fit?
Adults with obesity who do not have diabetes may be a good fit for this study.

Why participate?
Participants receive regular health monitoring during scheduled visits, along with support for weight management and lifestyle guidance while helping advance future treatments.

Cardiovascular Risk Research Study

Study ID: J2O-MC-EKBG

What is this study about?
This Phase 3 study is evaluating Muvalaplin, a once-daily oral medication, to see whether it may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in people who are at higher risk or who have experienced one in the past.

Who might be a good fit?
Adults who are at risk for cardiovascular events or who have previously experienced one may be a good fit. Participants must also have elevated Lipoprotein(a), or Lp(a), levels, which will be measured during screening.

Why participate?
Participants receive regular health monitoring during scheduled visits and access to potential new treatment options while helping advance research that may improve prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
