Newsletter

February, 2022

Keeping you up-to-date is one way we help you live your best life!

Welcome to our first Winterberry patient newsletter, we’re glad you’re here! We created this newsletter as a way to keep you up to date on what’s happening and what’s new at the clinic. It’s one more way we are working to make your life more healthy, convenient and informed. Are you ready to find out what’s new at Winterberry this month? Let’s go!

Our dedicated teams helped us stay open during COVID-19.

During two years of COVID-19 many healthcare clinics closed or severely limited services. At Winterberry we stayed safely open thanks to our commitment to virtual medicine and our dedicated team.

We’re proud partners in our community’s vaccination effort.

When Hamilton’s COVID-19 response team called for clinics to become partners in an urgent and widespread COVID-19 vaccination program, we answered. So far we’ve given over 30,000 vaccines to the community.

Giving shots, getting smiles.

Not everyone is relaxed and easy going about getting a shot at the doctor’s office. That’s why with the help of our caring team, we’ve created a safe, comfortable vaccination experience that includes private rooms, time for questions, a caring nurse and even a sticker at the end. At Winterberry our goal is to make your day, even one that includes a needle, easier and more comfortable.

Did you know?

Nurse Practitioners have 6+ years of medical training

At Winterberry we our proud to have a team of highly skilled Nurse Practitioners.

You may be wondering about the training required to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP) in Ontario. Well, here’s the answer from the Nurse Practitioners Association of Ontario:

The Registered Nurse (RN) must be a graduate of a four-year Baccalaureate degree in Nursing and must have at least two years of full-time clinical practice experience (although the average is 17 years according to CRaNHR, 2012). This is followed by successful completion of a Master’s program. The Master’s program is two years (seven courses) and takes two full calendar years or 24 months to complete. The program includes courses in advanced health assessment, advanced pathophysiology, therapeutics, and roles and responsibilities, as well as 728 clinical practice hours in the primary health care NP program and 800 clinical hours in the Paediatric or Adult NP program.
